Greymouth und Shantytown

Als nächster größerer Zwischenstop lag Greymouth an, wo wir wieder unsere Akkus laden konnten und uns ein wenig die Stadt angesehen haben. Allerdings hat uns Greymouth nicht so sehr fasziniert und somit sind wir in eine alte "Museumsstadt" gefahren, in der jede Menge alte Gebäude aus der Goldgräberzeit standen.
Dort war auch grade Markt und vieeeel los.

One of the larger towns along the west coast is Greymouth. We spent a couple of days in Greymouth, we got our WOF, charged our batteries, walked around the town and visited Shanty Town which is an old gold mining town.

Wenn man sich das Equipment so ansieht, bin ich froh nicht in dieser Zeit gelebt zu haben. Es war doch alles sehr rudimentär *ähäm* (looks quite antique and you don't want to be seriously sick at that time.)

Die alte Kohlelock, man durfte sogar einen Blick in die Lock werfen, bevor die Fahrt weiter ging. (an old steam powered train which was used to carry logs and people. It took us to the do it yourself and fossick for gold place. Since we've tried that in Arrowtown and found nuggets bigger than Easter eggs we didn't need to fossick for more. Remember they are pretty heavy and our luggage is not supposed to weigh more than 20kg ;-) )
... ein schöner und relaxter Tag... Weiter ging es, um einen Übernachtungsplatz etwas außerhalb von Greymouth zu finden... (that's how the sunset looked at the place we stayed overnight)
